First Day in Bombay, 23 Dec 2006

>> Sunday, December 24, 2006

After 2 hours delay flight because of the bad weather, I departed from Bangalore to Mumbai (Bombay) and started my first self travelling experience. The food of Indian Airline was surprisingly delicious.

One and forty minute later, I arrived Bombay which is one of the biggest cities in India. Prepaid ATTO was the best option to go to the AIESEC intern’s house. On the way, the ATTO driver drove to the poor area. The first things came out with my mind was “Am I staying this place?” Of course not, there are few nice apartments behind this poor area. I didn’t feel good because it was obviously shown that the seriousness of property disparity in India.

Without any big problem I found the intern house. I was friendly welcomed by three interns, Jenny, Jerry and Marcos who are chatting in the living room. Before I came to Bombay, I already have my own plan about the place I would like to visit. However, it was better because they offer me the option to go to “World Press Photo 2006” exhibition. Photo or picture means 1000 words. The photo in the exhibition brought a lot of message to me.

There is a transparent swimming pool at the top of the hotel.

After that, we walked by Marine Drive and went to Collaba Causeway to have dinner. Of course, this is such a good place for shopping.

Since we were going to clubbing later, we decided to have some bear in the local bar. This was the first time I went into the local bar although I heard a lot about that when I was in Bangalore. It was a good experience. The most famous beer here is “Kingfisher”. This is a company which I know they produce random stuffs such as mineral water, local airline, beer, etc.

Again, I didn’t expect I will go clubbing in the first day I came to Bombay. I met a lot of interns here although I can’t remember because there are too many people. Nevertheless, it was really fun since I didn’t clubbing for such a long time after leave New Zealand. We spent the night until 4am.

One more day i will flight to Bombay. Until now I still havent settle my accommodation. Oh GOD!!!! what to do?

Should I just book the hotel and without waiting for their reply. It is really make me crazy!!! Feel so helpless most of the time in India. Everything need to ask for helping from people..

I always thought I am independent to live by myself but I found out sometime I cant be that strong or may be I am not that strong... Really tired now.

friend

>> Monday, December 18, 2006

When I was high school, older people will tell you have to appreaciate the time when you was young and the friend when you was in school. Because when we growth up, it will become hard to get good friend.

Em... I am kind of agree with that.

Travel or live around the world is always one of my dream. And now my dream is in the process. Two years ago, I left Malaysia and all the relationship (family & friend) then went to New Zealand. It is always start to have a new life. But at that moment I was excited to go oversea. However, now when I looked back, I found out sometime I lost quite a lot of things especially friends. Of course I gain other things in other place.

Why I suddenly think like that. Because when I came to my another part of journey of life - India, I had some crazy experience. There are many interns like me come to India everyday, of course they are many people leaving everyday.

Last Sunday I met a german guy, he is cool and nice. But he is leaving India after 2 days I met him. Besides, there are another two other interns which I just know them but they are leaving two days later. This is really crazy! Can you imagine like we just started to be friend, then you might not be able to meet them again forever. I feel really sad about that althought the technology today can decrease distance around the world. This kind of situation never be good.

Anyway, I am happy at least I can know them for two or few days. I will try my best to keep in touch! Good Luck

Thorsten and me.. we just met two days.

the best weekend in India so far...

Yeah.. I am glad that I enjoy my wonderful weekend last two day. It is awesome.

Saturday morning
Lucia (my roomate) and me went to the Bannegatha National Park. It is one and the half hour far from Bangalore city. However, we just pay RM1 (10 rup) for the bus.

Lucia and me... hahah i happy to see this photo because I am really lost weight!

We did the grant safari which include bear, lion and tiger. It is not very natural and this animal is not very excited for me but my roomate make me feel so excited hahaha.

the best things is we rode the ELEPHANT!! and i touch their "teeth" hahaha since I am not dare to touch them.. but it is good experience and it was just RM4 (40 rup).

After come back to city, we have a nice coffee and nice cake in MG road.. And we did heaps of shopping. I bough 4 pairs of earing in one day.. feel so good. and it is so cheap.

Annie loo.. these are the key chain I bought it for you. It is really cool and cheap!!

After that, we found a restaurant which have a good environment, good view and good servie. And each of us just spent RM15 to have a full dinner.

It is so good...

understanding culture

>> Friday, December 15, 2006

In AIESEC, we talk about how to understand different culture. Maybe some culture will make you feel very uncomfortable but we should found the reason behind it and understand it.Before, i thought I can understand but I just found that I am learning to understand it now.

I talk about the traffic in Bangalore before. At that time, I feel very uncomfortable with this "culture". However, last tuesday, I talk this with my friend, I got a very good conclusion and I like this explaination.

The driver in Bangalore cant drive without hon.Why..because may be without hon it will become dangerous since everyone is not follow the traffic rule. BEsides, they do not need to use side mirror because it will be too much space by using side mirror.. hahahah..

so.. everything must has the reason behind. Therefore, when you found out the reason you will understand it.

May be I am wrong may be correct. Let see ..

things i dislike and disagree

come to a new environment, I found that thinking, believe and behaviour actually can be changed by the life you had experienced.

I used to be very stubborn on what I believe. It is very hard to persuade me to change my mind. I will listen but I would never agree.

After go to oversea for two year, live by myself. Experience many different things. I found that I had been changed.

The best example is "smoking". Since I was 2 years old I hate people smoke. No matter what reason, I will tell myself smoker is the most selfish person in the world. I would never be friend with smoker when I was in Malaysia. So, non of my friend is smoker.

But, everything has changed. After I went to New Zealand, I start meeting smoker and at the end they become my friend, and one of that become my boy friend. Something getting worse is after I came to India, if I do not want to accept smoker as my friend then it will be so hard to meet friend.

Before, when people smoke I will just go as far as possible. But now I start standing beside them. I feel really bad but I cant do much about that.

In india, you can smoke everywhere you like, in pub, club, restaurant (five star as well). I think the only place you cant smoke is cinema in India. So, if I want to avoid them that is mean I cant go anywhere. So I was forced to accept it.

I love clubbing and partying with my friend when I was in NZ. However, in India, everytime I have to think so much because I really cant stand it and I dont want to make the people around me uncomfortable.

the place which was killing me!

Why people like to smoke? or why they want to smoke?
----
Besides, I found that if I dislike something then it will happened on myself and I cant avoid it. Is it someone told me that I should love everything, and without "hate" in my life. hahahhaha

Global Village

>> Tuesday, December 12, 2006

One week ago, AIESEC bangalore had organised the Global village for Interns here. I was excited about that because I expected to meet many people from that event. Therefore, I went there on time (normally I did). It suppose to start at 3pm. However, I stayed there more than 1 hour, I am only the intern and very little aiesecers there.

Fortunately, there are four interns came after that. Since they didnt start so we went for drink. Very nice to meet them, and amazing that one of them is malaysian (from LCP of @ singapore). The first malaysian I met here until now. eling and me.. we are from malaysia but not from AIESEC malaysia :p

About 4.30pm the event finally got started. However, I don't know why they provide this workshop for us - about Corporate social responsible and entreprenuership. Anyway, I am not very enjoyed it. And nearly fall asleep.

The workshop is getting very very long, may be is india things they never stick to their schedule which I really don't like it. Although they were late, they still stick to one topic and never move on. Anyway, i did learn a little bit things from the workshop.

About 8pm, it suppose start at 6pm, the global village get start. It is amazing that Bangalore really have many interns. I meet many people. and learn about other country culture .

this is turkish stall. All the stuff are looked weird for me. But suprisingly, it tastes really good :)

turkish delight.. yummy

it looks really funny.. but it taste very good. made by some rice, olive, leaf...

One day, when I took the auto to work. I found out this...

Because indian driver can't drive without horn, so he added this =.='''

one of the biggest issues in India is the gap between rich and poor is extreamly big.. the rich people is really really rich, the house they build is like palace. However, the poor ppl is really poor.

I remembered one day night when I on my way home, I saw an old women and two children, they just make some fire and sit around there. I guess they will be sitting there for whole night during the winter.

Besides, I also saw a lot of child labour. The girl sold the cotton without wearing any top.

OMG.. so what we have now is really a lot.. may be we cant help all of them, but at least we dont discriminate them.

But the AUTO driver make me crazy again...

We waited the auto in the auto station. Then I stupid traffic police put me and others two NOT LOOK LIKE INDIAN Indian girls in the same auto. Then about 1km the stupid auto driver say want to charge extra because different place. Then we dont want to pay he dropped us at the road side.

OMG.. there is dark and hard to get AUTO. Luckily the two girls help me to get the auto after we walk about 1km. Then the AUTO i got I think he brought me to the longer way to reach home... then I spend 40 ruppies for short distance.. damn it..

sorry, 13D+E

13E+D seem like became a "past tense". It is extreamly sad for me because without this, I wont have the happiest time in New Zealand. When I go back to NZ again. I cant
hear the noisy of people,
enjoy the party organized by Yohei,
find my key and slipper in 13D,
cook for a army team and "salt war" with Annie LOO,
our gossip team,
fight with japanese guy who seem like very kind actually is evil,
drinking for everything,
hulu cat for random reason....

there are too many too many memories for 2006 in these apartments. I really hope it would never disappear....

Provided by: Annie Loo
this is all my stuff I leave in NZ, and bring a little bit trouble for the 3G people. It is weird from 13D+E become 3G hahahhaha

Although there are some unhappy among us, but i still feel this is one of the best moment in my life.

Thanks
Yenling, Vywen, Annie LOO, Yohei Osada, Brandon, Eva, Shingo, Crystal, jaesern, and jack.

And those ppl always come to these two apartment and bring so much fun for us...
